Did you know that a key factor in a vibrant prayer life is experiencing ourselves as lovable?

A poor self-image will play havoc with our ability to come close to God.

If your son hates or despises himself, he will assume that God (and other people) feel the same way.

If your daughter doesn’t see much to love in herself, she’ll find it difficult to believe that God sees much to love in her.

Such a belief will keep her at a distance from God.

If we want our children to have a thriving prayer life, we need to help them see themselves as God sees them.

This exercise will take between 30-70 minutes and it's intended to produce the following results:

  • Heartfelt conversations between a caregiver and a child
  • A child will look into the mirror of God's Word to discover what God sees in them
  • Your child will gain a greater capacity to experience God’s unconditional love

HOW TO USE

START with the black and white worksheet that invites your child to describe themselves.

THEN move on to the yellow worksheet that invites your child to look into God’s eyes (by looking into His Word), so they can see their true reflection.

There is no need to rush through this activity. Your child can do it in an hour or they can do it in a month.

What’s important is that they give themselves enough time to dwell on God’s words and let God’s truth take deep roots in their heart.

FINALLY, put the complete poster on their bedroom door or bathroom mirror, and encourage them to daily welcome the words of God by agreeing with them out loud.

Or better yet, put the poster on your refrigerator door and at meal times declare these words over yourselves as a family.

  • Yes, Jesus, we believe that we are precious to You.
  • Thank You, Jesus, for adopting us into Your family… and so on.

There is great power in repeating these words to ourselves over and over again.

This will train your children to fight back when destructive lies come like a flood.

We pray that this exercise will help your children experience God’s love in a new and profound way and as a result, come to see and experience themselves as lovable.
